EAF Refractory Products & Lining Systems
A complete range of magnesia-carbon bricks, safety bricks, EBT taphole components, roof products and monolithic refractory materials for the sidewall, hot-spot, slag, metal, bottom and maintenance zones of electric arc furnaces.
High-Performance Refractories for Severe Furnace Zones
Electric arc furnaces require refractory products with high service life in areas exposed to intense heat, thermal cycling, slag attack, metal contact, abrasion and mechanical loading.
The magnesia-carbon brick range is intended for EAF sidewall and other severe lining applications. The listed grades contain approximately 97% MgO and are described as incorporating high-purity fused magnesia, while the final grade should be selected according to the wear conditions of each furnace zone.
Performance Requirements for EAF Refractories
Key Areas of the Electric Arc Furnace
The lining is divided into zones so that each area can be supplied with a refractory product appropriate to its thermal, chemical and mechanical exposure.
EAF Refractory Bricks, Components & Masses
The supplied product pages identify eight main product groups for EAF lining, taphole operation, roof construction and refractory maintenance.
Magnesia-Carbon Bricks
MgO-C bricks for hot spots, slag zones, metal zones, sidewalls and bottom applications.
Magnesite Safety Bricks
Basic refractory bricks for the permanent or backup lining behind the EAF working lining.
EBT Taphole Sleeves
Shaped refractory sleeves for eccentric bottom tapping systems, produced to approved dimensions.
Alumina–SiC–Carbon End Bricks
Composite taphole end bricks for zones requiring thermal, abrasion and mechanical resistance.
Gunning, Fettling & Dry Ramming Mass
Monolithic materials for pneumatic repair, fettling and compacted dry lining applications.
EBT Repair Mass
Refractory repair material for restoring worn areas of the EBT taphole system.
Pre-Cast Roof Delta
Pre-cast refractory component for the EAF roof delta, manufactured according to furnace design.
EBT Filling Mass
Filling products available in magnesite-based and olivine-based formulations for EBT operation.
High-MgO Bricks with Multiple Carbon Levels
The listed EAF brick range contains 97% MgO with fixed carbon levels from 5% to 15%. Different grades provide different combinations of bulk density, apparent porosity and cold-crushing strength.
Grade selection should be based on the exact furnace zone, thermal loading, slag practice, oxidation exposure, brick dimensions and previous wear history.
