Refractory Material Families and Product Applications

Four refractory solutions are organized in two functional groups: anchor and support bricks for mechanically demanding lining zones, and special-shaped products for burner ports and severe high-temperature areas.

Category One

Andalusite-Based Anchor and Support Solutions

This category includes andalusite and andalusite-corundum products for zones where mechanical interlocking, dimensional stability and reliable behavior under repeated temperature changes are important.

High Alumina Andalusite Brick

An andalusite-based high-alumina refractory for furnace zones requiring stable high-temperature performance and dependable resistance to repeated heating and cooling.

Good resistance to thermal cycling and thermal shock
Useful dimensional stability at elevated temperature
Suitable mechanical strength for structural brickwork

Andalusite-Corundum Anchor Brick

A combined andalusite-corundum quality for anchor and support shapes where greater thermo-mechanical resistance and stronger lining support are required.

Higher alumina contribution from the corundum phase
Strong mechanical support in anchor geometry
Resistance to abrasion and repeated thermal loading
Suitable for complex interlocking shapes

Annular cooler refractory lining
Grate-machine areas

Alumina-Based Burner-Port and Severe-Service Solutions

This category includes alumina-mullite and alumina-chromite special shapes for burner openings and sensitive zones exposed to concentrated heat, thermal cycling, abrasion and chemical attack.

High Alumina Alumina-Mullite Brick

A high-alumina refractory containing mullite-rich phases for severe thermal service and special-shaped lining around burner openings.

Typical Properties
Good refractoriness and high-temperature stability
Relatively low thermal expansion for thermal cycling service
Resistance to flame-side heating and thermal shock
Suitable for pressed or machined special shapes
Typical Applications
Pelletizing-furnace burner ports
Burner blocks and adjacent hot-face lining
High-temperature transition zones
Areas exposed to concentrated heat and flame impact

Alumina-Chromite Burner-Port Brick

An alumina-based refractory containing chromite or chromium-bearing phases for demanding zones where chemical, abrasive and thermal wear must be considered together.

Enhanced resistance to selected corrosive environments
Suitable wear resistance in severe burner-side service
Thermal-cycling performance when correctly engineered
Available as special-shaped burner and port components

Severe-service pelletizing-furnace burner ports

Technical note: “Phosphate-bonded” describes the bonding system rather than a separate raw-material family. Exact chemistry, physical properties, brick geometry and suitability must be confirmed against the manufacturer’s technical data sheet and the customer’s furnace drawings. Alumina-chromite is included as a severe-service material family mentioned for burner-port shapes, although it is not one of the three application rows summarized above.
